Dear Parents/Guardians,


Thanks for Another Good Year

We have enjoyed a very successful year in Glenamaddy Community School. So much good has happened in terms of curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular in our school community. Thank you to all our partners in education for making the school such an enjoyable place to study and work. Ar aghaidh linn le cheile.

Please find enclosed your son’s or daughter’s Summer Report.  We hope it is a reward for students who worked hard or a cue to some to work even harder. We compliment and thank all students for their co-operation throughout the year and wish them a Happy Summer!


Calendar& Dates

October Mid-term break 29th October to 2nd November inclusive 
Monday 10th December No School - Discretionary Day 
Christmas Holidays School closes 21st December & re-opens 7th January 2019
February Mid-term break 18th - 22nd February inclusive
Easter Holidays 15th April - 26th April inclusive 
Dates for Parent Teacher Meetings & Training Days will be confirmed in September.


Talks for Parents

Thank you to the Parents’ Association for its continued support - consultative, fundraising and assistance at school events.  The Board of Management gratefully received funding from the Association towards motivational and guidance talks for students and our annual Personal &Social Awareness Week. We intend to hold a talk for parents on the new Junior Cycle Programme, on study skills and career planning for your child. If you have any suggestions for guest speakers, please let us know.


Book Rental Scheme 

Thanks to funding from the Department of Education & Skills and the Parents’ Association, we intend to operate the book rental scheme again this year. The annual book rental fee is €130. No books can be issued without payment. Separately, workbooks & materials for Music, Art & the practical subjects may be purchased from the relevant teacher in September. 


1st, 2nd & 3rd Years  Collect books on Wed. 22nd August 10am-1pm & 2–4pm.
5th Years  Collect books on Thursday 23rd August 10am-1pm & 2–4pm.
6th Years  €130 annual fee will be collected by the Office on Tuesday 28th August. 
Students with iPads will receive their hard-back books on their return in September. 



Well Done & Thank You to all who took part in or contributed to our two chosen charities this year: The Darkness into Light Walkand the Sixty-Five RosesCystic Fibrosis run. Both charitiesare close to our heart here and it was good to see the community, students and staff coming together in support of these worthy causes.   


School Uniform 

Our students wear the school uniform well. Students may wear any brand of black leather shoes. Runners are not allowed. Girls wear the school skirt or navy school pants. Students may not wear track suit pants. Students wear a white top & any colour shorts for P.E. class. Piercings are prohibited for safety reasons. We ask for your support in ensuring compliance with our school uniform policy.


Adult Classes - Business/Computer Fetac Level 5 Course


Would you like to join our Fetac Level 5 Business/Secretarial course incorporating Computers, iPads, Accounting, Marketing & Communications? Tuition times & days are flexible & we cater for all levels.  Please contact the school at 0949659315 for details.
