2014/15

Our first year soccer players had a very productive school year. Having been placed in a very competitive group they successfully negotiated their way to the top of the table with wins over Merlin College, Colaiste an Eachreidh, Athenry and a draw with Seamount, Kinvara.

As group winners our boys had home advantage in the quarter final meeting with St Brendan’s, Belmullet and on March 10th played a four goals to nil victory over the Belmullet men. This quarter final win set up a rematch with Seamount, Kinvara in the semi-final in Glenamaddy on the 19th of March. Confidence was high as this was a team we should have beaten in the group stages but a tired and injury struck side never looked like winning on that day and bravely fought to the bitter end.

2011/12

Glenamaddy CS First Years were crowned Connacht Champions on Wednesday 23rd with an impressive win over Charlestown in the final.

Glenmaddy CS had to get over the obstacle of Grange in the semi final before they could think of glory in the final. This match preceeded the final on the same day in the same venue. Glenamaddy proved too strong for their Sligo opponents. With a final scoreline of 6 - 1, we eased our way into the final against a strong Charlestown team.

Glenamaddy CS failed to have it all their own way in the first half of the final and they ended the first half behind 2 - 1. However, fresh from the teamtalk, the boys soon got back to level pegging and there was no looking back from there. Jack Divilly marshelled his defence well allowing very little through. J. Egan, Anthony Feeney and Diarmuid Lee all gave great performances as Glenamaddy powered ahead in the match. By the time the final whistle was blown the scoreline stood at 7 - 4, a convincing win and celebrations all round.

Congrats also to Mr. Francis and Mr. Heavy on masterminding the succes from the line. Lets hope there will be many more titles in the future years.

Glenamaddy CS also put out a B team on the day. They drew with their opponents Charlestown with a scoreline of 1-1. Best on the day for this team were Thomas O'Toole in goal, Dean Carton in defence and Peter Swift in the forwards.

2016/17 Senior Soccer

Congratulations to our senior soccer panel for a winning start to their season. On Thursday 13th of October in Mervue our senior side played Yeats College. After a close first half hour the breakthrough eventually came with a clever Diarmuid Severs Coen goal closely followed by a close-in effort from Anthony Feeney for a two goals to nil half time lead. In the second half our boys scored two more classy efforts. Captain Oisin McGann slipped a low strike past the Yeats goalkeeper into the right corner while shortly afterwards Anthony Feeney snatched a second with a well taken effort from the edge of the large square. Yeats responded in the dying minutes with a goal of their own but it was the Glenamaddy boys who eventually won out and now look forward to a match against Galway Community College, Moneenageisha in the coming weeks.

Glenamaddy U17 Boys win in Mervue
17/11/2016
It was a successful outing for our Under 17 boys today as they battled their way to a three goals to one victory over a skilful Galway Community College side.
GCC scored first in a very even first half but within a minute Thomas Lambe struck back with a beautifully executed gaol from distance and the teams were level. As the first half drew to a close Evan Fahy slid a low pass left of the GCC keeper into the bottom corner and our boys led by a goal at half time.
The second half was a tense affair until Oisin Haynes scored midway and from then on Glenamaddy looked in control and the match finished with a win and three points.
An all Kilkerrin back four of Cathal Moran, Brian Fahey, Brian McDermott and James O'Donnell played very well in front of a competent keeper Jack Donnellan. A solid midfield four of Simon Keaveney, Evan Fahy, Steven Raftery and Oisin Haynes controlled play with Diarmuid Severs Coen and Thomas Lambe leading the attack. Substitutes John Croghan, David Madden and Ryan Keaveney performed admirably when introduced also.

Connacht Champions!

Glenamaddy CS 1 - 0 Coola PPS, Sligo

Well to done to the U15 Boys soccer team who had a hard fought win over Coola PPS, Sligo in the Connacht Final on Tuesday 10th. This was a gritty display with Michael Giblin getting to only goal with 15 minutes left on the clock. The team now go through to the All Ireland Semi Final and we await the details of this fixture. Congratulations to all the team and the management on this great success.

2014/15

Our Under 15 panel was unlucky to be part of what could be called ‘A group of death.’ The campaign started well in November with a win over a Merlin College side but an away trip in terrible weather conditions in Oughterard some weeks later proved to be a disappointing experience for a team which promised so much. After a very poor start the weather got worse as did the scoreline and we returned to Glenamaddy wet and miserable with nothing to show for our efforts.

The group stage came to an end with a defeat to a very strong Kinvara side in February at home in Glenamaddy.
