Students introduced to elements of the Leaving Certificate Construction Studies course. Topics covered include
Foundations - types and function of
Roofs – types and function of
Cavity wall details including window cill, window head.
Project Work
Projects are designed to accommodate the fact that some students have studied woodwork for their Junior Certificate and others are taking it up for the first time. Examples include a mirror stand which allows student input according to their level of skill. Projects with a Christmas theme are made at Christmas time.
Assessment
Projects are assessed when completed and also classwork and homework. Students have a formal exam at Christmas and summer.
