Senior Girls Basketball 2012/13
All Ireland Play-offs
Well done to our Girls Senior Basketball team who got through to the All-Ireland C Semi-Final last weekend. The girls took part in one of four play off series with the winners from each going through to the semis. Glenamaddy CS hosted the play-offs in this region on Saturday 3rd Feb.
In our first game we had a good win over Coola, Sligo with a final scoreline of 55 - 35. The second game was against Loretto, Navan and we again went on to win by 46 - 15. As the fourth team in the play offs had already been beaten by Navan they conceded their match against us sending G.C.S. through to the semi-final.
The semi-final will be held in a neutral venue on the week of 4th - 8th March. Venue, opponents, date and time will all be posted here when they have been confirmed.

This years Senior team got off to a good start win a narrow win over Dunmore C.S. They then followed this up with a comprehensive win over Presentation College, Tuam and another over Castlerea C.S. leaving them in the Regional Quarter Final.
The girls had a good win over Colaiste Chroi Mhuire in the Quarter Final.
The semi-finals and final were held in sports hall in the school. The girls defeated Mount St Michael Claremorris in the Semi Final.
In an exciting final that was very close until the final quarter, Glenamaddy defeated Colaiste na Coiribe leaving them as the Senior Regional winners. Great cheers rang out around the hall as captain, Brigid Barlow, raised the cup on behalf of her team.
The team now go forward to the All-Ireland play offs in February.
For six of these girls this is a record fourth Regional basketball title, having previously won the cup at Minor, Junior and Cadette levels. We wish them the best of luck with their training over the next few months.
Senior Girls Basketball 2011/12
Glenamaddy C.S. senior girls’ basketball team had a mixed year with many spirited performances. After weeks of training they faced the Presentation College, Tuam in Glenamaddy. In a hard fought match, Glenamaddy CS prevailed on a score line of 46-24. Hopes were high after this victory but the next encounter with Castlrea CS was a much tougher test. On this occasion the visitors proved too strong and won 41-17. In their final game against Dunmore, the senior girls showed great determination but could not find a way through the stubborn Dunmore defence. This defeat ended the senior campaign for this year.
