Course Outline
The Home Economics course for Transition Year is made up of the following elements:
Dress Design
Basic Cookery
Christmas Cakes
HSE Home Economics Programme
Project Work
Students will have practical cookery classes usually every second week. At the end of theses classes students will have to fill out evaluation sheets on the items they have produced.
Students will also be taking part in Christmas Raffle in aid of a charity. This allows students to work together and use their skills in aid of a good cause.
Students will also get to a Hotel and Catering school/college like GMIT. This visit allows students to see the possibilities for further education and employment in this sector.
Assessment
Assessment of class work and project work is done on a very regular basis by the class teacher and credits are given for each module.
