A group of Third Year students and their teachers attended a production of The Merchant of Venice in the very impressive Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. It was a very enjoyable and beneficial experience for all involved.

'Buail an t-iarann te' mar a deirtear as Gaeilge. The 5th years recently had a workshop organised by the Irish Dept and Conradh na Gaeilge. This workshop informed students about possible careers with teanga na Gaeilge. Niamh Ní Ghoill travels from school to school with an Seó Bóthair and challenges students to think, speak and debate as Gaeilge. She informed students about the number of people that speak Gaeilge daily and also the growth in resources for learning the language (féach ar an teidí a labhraíonn Gaeilge). In addition to this she quizzed the students on their knowledge of text language 'as Gaeilge! Ba cheardlann den scoth í.

Well done to our Siansa group who have entered the first round of the Siansa, Gael Linn competition. It is the most prestigious competition in Ireland for young Irish traditional musicians. We wish them well.

Well done to the U-14 Girls who defeated The Covent of Mercy Roscommon on a score line of 5-17 to 1-3. The girls had a slow start to the game but after 15 minutes they completely dominated and pushed on from this. There were strong performances from Katelyn Mee, Lauren Conneally, Cailín Keaveny, Karla Hanley, Grace Coneran and Caitlin Boyle. The girls will face The Ursuline Sligo in the Connacht Semi-Final after Christmas. Well done to all the girls.
