Details

Following a statement and from the Taoiseach today, Glenamaddy CS, as with all other schools in the country will close from 6pm this evening, March 12th. It will remain closed until March 29th and we will await further guidelines at that stage. We advise that you follow the advice of the HSE on matters relating to the containment of the Covid 19 virus.

Our TY students have been hard at work turning old materials and recyclables into some wonderful fashion for the Junk Kouture competition. Check out @junkkouture on instagram to follow them on their journey.

On Thursday, November 28, 2019, we had our first cross-country event of the season. The annual 6km in Ballygar was a wonderful first outing in preparation for the national competition in January. It was an enjoyable run for all involved and we were particularly delighted to bring the gold (Oisín Keane- Third Year)and silver (Eoin Collins- First Year) trophies back to GCS.

Our senior home economics students have been busy baking and decorating some beautiful cakes for Christmas with their teacher Ms. Joyce.

Thank you to all students, staff and families of Glenamaddy CS for contributing to the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. We received over 150 boxed in total between the school and church collection. A special thank you to the TY students for helping to organise the Shoebox Appeal.

Congratulations to Luke Dolan (Second Year) and Deirdre Croghan (Leaving Certificate)who have qualified for the All-Ireland Final of Poetry Aloud, to be held on December 6, 2019 in the National Library of Ireland.

Our TY students took part in The Global Goals Challenge at Brigid's Garden. It was a fun-filled day of activities and team building skills. We had a great day.

Details
Here at GCS we are always trying to do our best for the environment. We wish well to all the students who are protesting for climate action and we stand in solidarity with them. We have made some big changes here in our school and we are looking forward to making an impact again this year. 
 
Here is a photo of our TYs, excited to be using their new reusable bottles. Watch this space for updates of our initiatives for this school year.
