Glenamaddy Community School is honoured to host the annual ACCS Annual Education Conference on Wednesday 26thApril.

Community and Comprehensive schools from around the country will gather at the Four Roads to celebrate ‘Creativity in our Schools’.

Former Professor of Education and President of Maynooth University is to formally open the conference and share some of his thoughts on the theme for the day in his own inimitable way.

Schools and students will showcase their creativity, imagination, initiative, and talents through a variety of forms, music, dance, spoken word, design, craft, entrepreneurship, project work to name but a few.

Creativity is seeing what others see and thinking what no one else has ever thought.

Glenamaddy CS traditional Irish musicians and sean nós dancers were honoured to perform at the closing night of the All Ireland Confined Drama finals 2023 on Friday 21st April at Glenamaddy Community Centre. Patrons who were attending the final night were treated to a fine display of Irish traditional music and sean nós dancing. The event was attended by groups from all over the country and the students were praised and thanked for their efforts by Festival Chairperson Peter Keaveney.

Together with Bridie Comer Dolan and Ellen Parsons, a number of TY students decorated the windows of various businesses in the town in honour of the All Ireland Confined Drama Finals 2023. The TY students involved were Oisín Keaveney, Zofia Waruszewska, Tehya Mortimer, Cormac Reilly, Ava Haugh, Ava Halvey and Tadgh Flanagan. The students were described by the festival committee as a very talented group of young people who were a pleasure to work with. Nothing was too much for them and they had a very positive attitude. Please find attached some photos of their wonderful work.

Glenamaddy Community School’s TY students participated in two ‘An Taisce, National Spring Clean’ mornings during the month of March. Fantastic cleaning up of litter black spots in the town were carried out. We thank Louise Garvey & Kathleen Ward of Glenamaddy Tidy Towns for allowing us to be involved in this very important community work. Please see photos of the clean up in action.
